MARKET DRAYTON PREVIEW

MARKET DRAYTON PREVIEW image

The Millers travel to the Greenfields Sports Stadium on Saturday looking to maintain their position at the top of the First Division South.

Market Drayton Town currently find themselves 19th in the table with 28 points from 30 games. Their position is due principally to a terrible start to the season, where, after winning on 20 August, they failed to win any of their next 13 league fixtures, and went out of four cups at the first time of asking. These defeats included their 5-2 reverse at Stoke Lane and a 7-1 home defeat against Loughborough.

That led to a change of management with former boss Jimmy Mullen returning and Drayton's fortunes have much improved since then. Of the 14 league matches played since, they have lost just four and have climbed out of the relegation zone.

Last time out they won 2-1 away at Romulus albeit they have to go back to mid-November for their last home win, an impressive 3-0 victory over Belper.

The Millers have enjoyed this fixture over the years, winning all five matches between the sides, including a Steve Chaplin-inspired 2-0 win in the corresponding fixture last season, the report of which can be found here.

The complete record is as follows:

League

2011-12 NPL1S 5-2(h)
2010-11 NPL1S 5-2(h) 2-0(a)
2009-10 NPL1S 5-3(h) 2-1(a)

Fixtures at Greenfields are always difficult and Les's men would love your support if you are able to travel. Directions can be found on the Supporters tab.

Get yourselves to Shropshire if you can and make some noise for the mighty Millers.

Have you seen these?
