Rhys Lewis headed the only goal of the game after Carlton failed to clear a cross into the six yard box. It was a strike against the run of play albeit in a relatively even first half, where Neil West made one exceptional save.
But in the second period it was all Carlton as the Millers pinned Grantham back for long periods in difficult conditions. However the Gingerbreads defence, and in particular their centre-halves, played very well and restricted Carlton to in the main long-range efforts or half-chances.
When Carlton did manage to get a strike in on goal, the Grantham keeper was equal to the task and Les McJannet's men just couldn't get the equaliser their play deserved.
The match saw the return of Steve Chaplin, as a second half substitute, and also brought the news that Antwon Bonnick has left to go to Greenwood Meadows - and we wish him all the best there.
Photos are on site now and a match report will follow tomorrow.
