Carlton Town were beaten 3-2 at home by Gresley this evening.

The scoreline flattered the Millers, who were second best to the visitors for long periods tonight.

The home side had goalkeeper Jack Steggles to thank for the score being goalless at half time, with three excellent saves from Gresley striker Courtney Meade.

Meade opened the scoring on 57 minutes, firing across Steggles into the bottom corner of the net.

Carlton levelled just six minutes later when Kieron Walker took advantage of a fumble by Ben Gough to fire home.

It took the visitors just four minutes to regain the lead when Pearson Mwanyongo rode a number of challenges before slotting past Steggles and Meade added his second on 82 minutes with a fierce drive into the corner of the net.

Mwanyongo hit the post as the visitors looked to extend their lead before Walker gave the Millers brief hope, tapping home from close range in added time.

But Gresley saw out the final moments to record a deserved win.

Carlton travel to Shaw Lane in the next game on Saturday.

A match report from tonight's game will be on site tomorrow.
