Carlton Town conceded late for the second time in four days as they lost 2-1 at home to Frickley Athletic.

Gavin Allott scored with eight minutes remaining as Carlton lost again, their fourth defeat in six league games this year.

Ben Hutchinson had given the Millers the lead midway through the first half from the penalty spot after Luke Smithson was brought down but Frickley levelled just before half time when Jameel Ible headed home ex-Coventry City star Gary McSheffrey's free kick.

By then Frickley had striker James Morris playing in goal after an injury to keeper Hugo Warhurst but, although Carlton played some decent football, the lack of any cutting edge was manifest.

They were made to pay late on when Allott was on hand to fire home after Jack Steggles had blocked a Daniel Palmer effort.

Carlton drop to 14th in the table with six points from six games. They are next in action at Lincoln Utd on Wednesday in the first round of the League Cup.

A full report will be on site over the weekend.
