Carlton Town suffered a fifth defeat in succession when they lost 3-1 at home to Halesowen Town

The Yeltz enjoyed the better of the encounter but had to wait until the 54th minute to take the lead, Ben Haseley lifting the ball over Jonathon Viscosi in the Millers goal.

Carlton levelled within two minutes when Danny Elliott headed home from close range.

Title-challenging Halesowen pushed forward looking for a winner but missed a host of clear opportunities. However Haseley restored their advantage on 79 minutes when he headed home Asa Charlton's cross.

The visitors wrapped up the points five minutes from time with what seemed to be an own goal after a goalmouth scramble, with Thomas Tonks hovering to make sure.

Halesowen stay top, two points ahead of Coalville who won 1-0 at Leek today, but the Ravens have a game in hand.

Carlton meanwhile remain 10th as their league campaign peters out in disappointing style.

They are next in action on Monday at Rainworth Miners Welfare, in what will be a dress-rehearsal for the Notts Senior Cup final a week later.
