OLYMPIC GAME'S TOMORROW...BUT DARKIN MOVES ON

Carlton Town's pre-season campaign begins tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Radcliffe Olympic.

The Millers announced five new signings yesterday and some of those may well be in action tomorrow, but one man who won't be there is Rob Darkin.

Mr Consistent joined the club in 2010 after the departure of most of the players and he immediately established himself as one of the best centre-halves in the division.

Darkin barely missed a game in his first two seasons and won back to back supporters' player of the year awards as well as the manager's player of the year in 2010-11 and the players' player in 2011-12.

Injuries caused problems in 2012-13 and decimated last season for Rob, who managed just four appearances in the campaign. In total he played 114 times for the Millers, scoring three goals, including a strike in the Senior Cup Final win against Sutton Town in 2013.

Rob is following the well-trodden path between Stoke Lane and Basford Utd, and we wish him all the best at Greenwich Avenue and thank him for his four years of service at Carlton.

As for the Millers, directions to Radcliffe are on the away travel tab - and be aware it is the Radcliffe carnival tomorrow - so come along and see the new boys - and the returning Ricky Gardner - for yourself (if they're playing of course!).
