Stunning strikes from Josh Rae and Kyle Stovell saw Carlton Town come from a goal down to beat Ilkeston 2-1 in a friendly this evening.

In an entertaining game, both teams hit the woodwork and Carlton had a goal disallowed in the first half alone.

That "goal" came on 10 minutes when Kevin Lusamba lobbed goalkeeper Ross Durrant from the edge of the box, only to be denied by an offside flag.

Ilkeston had chances of their own and after Liam Hearn and Mark Shelton had missed chances, Luke Foster headed against the bar.

At the other end Rae produced a lovely bit of football to cross for Niall Davie whose header was saved excellently by Durrant. From the resulting corner Julian Topliss fired against the crossbar.

Ilkeston took the lead on 41 minutes when Matt Baker headed home an Anthony Dwyer cross.

Jack Steggles then tipped a Hearn effort onto the post as the visitors finished the half stronger.

Carlton levelled five minutes into the second half with a superb goal. Kallum Keane's excellnt pass found Lusamba on the left touchline. His deep cross was met by Rae with a stunning volley into the corner of Durrant's net.

The remainder of the half was an even affair without and clear opportunities until the final minute when Danny Gordon's free kick was cleared only to Stovell who crashed home a volley from the edge of the box to win the game.

Carlton Town: Steggles, Gorman, Fletcher (Davie 30 (Weederburn 83)), Keane, Graham, Walker (Newton 46), Scoenecker (Williams 67), Topliss (Gordon 46), Lusamba (Stovell 64), Rae (Millward 76), Wholey (Charton 53).
