Mochdre put the mockers on Third XI
Plenty of positives despite defeat
Carmel's Third XI showed plenty of fighting spirit and took plenty of positives from an 83-run defeat at Mochdre.
The hosts won the toss and compiled 250-6 from their 40 overs as Luke Bodman (2-38) finished the pack of the attack.
Nick Hughes (2-48) also bagged a brace of wickets while Matt Bodman (1-45) and Bryn Jones (1-45) pocketed one apiece.
After the tea interval Luke Bodman hit 23 - his career-best score for Carmel's senior sides - as he opened the batting with support from Gareth Roberts (23).
Jones (33) followed up his maiden half-century earlier in the week with another impressive knock to top score for the visitors.
Promising young wicketkeeper Ben Davies, on debut, made a composed 17 while Mike Bodman made a career-best 20.
Hughes (25) also got a start, without going on to convert it into a big total, as Carmel were dismissed for 167 off the penultimate ball of the innings.
A special mention also for debutant Charlotte Toothill (0*) - left stranded without facing a ball having stepped in to play.
