Ben goes big to clean up Mold
Club's highest run chase of the season clinches memorable victory
Ben Sim cracked a career-best 74 as Carmel's Third XI chased down 190 to beat Mold.
Stand-in skipper Nick Hughes elected to bowl first after he won the toss and the home side compiled a commanding 190-5.
Slow bowler Cameron Ackroyd finished the pick of the visiting side's attack with 2-31 from his six overs.
Dylan Jones (1-27), Emlyn Williams (1-35) and Sim (1-18) all picked up one apiece.
Rohit Kaimal (0-16) also bowled an impressive nine overs while Dafydd Bailey's lightning fielding saw him claim a run out.
After the tea interval Sim and fellow opener Ackroyd (5) put on 45 for the first wicket to lay a solid foundation.
Steve Allsopp made a breezy 10 on debut while Father Roy Kottakupuram's big hitting spread the field and helped move the scoreboard along as he blasted his best ever score of 27.
However it was Sim, with a maiden half-century which eclipsed his previous best of 38, along with a classy knock from Kaimal (32) which put Carmel on the brink of victory.
And Bailey (7*) and Timothy Abraham (8*) secured a famous win with eight balls to spare.
