Dafydd Bailey made a patient 47 as Carmel's Second XI suffered a six-wicket loss against a strong Buckley side - skipper Christopher Jones' first ever league defeat as captain.
Asked to make first use of the track in their first match in the NWCL Premier Division, Carmel lost Matthew Isgar, Jones and Lee Rowles for ducks early in the innings.
But a stoic knock from Bailey with support from Jonathan Fisher (26) enabled the visitors to post 102-7 from their 45 overs.
Luke Bodman also chipped in with 12 while Rohit Kaimal finished unbeaten on 8.
Steve 'Scooter' Jones claimed 2-22 as Carmel made early inroads into the Buckley batting line-up.
Rowles (1-29) and Dafydd Timothy (1-21) also picked up a wicket apiece but the hosts were able to pass the total in 34.2 overs.
