First XI no match for Northop
Batting struggles continue for basement boys
Carmel's First XI remain bottom of NWCL Division One after a seven-wicket defeat to leaders Northop at Pen-y-Gelli
The visitors won the toss and Carmel were asked to bat first in damp conditions after rain fell in the moring before play started.
Wickets fell in quick succession although Gwion Dafydd (11) played stoically at the top of the order.
Stand-in skipper Alec Davies (16) and Oliver Saynor (17) were the only other players to make double figures, though.
Nine of Carmel's 10 wickets were caught as they were dismissed for 72 in 35.3 overs.
Northop wobbled at 36-3 after Ben Sim (2-25) and Jack Whitehouse (1-32) struck early.
But despite a fielding display with plenty of intensity Northop were able to pass the total in 16.3 overs.
