Touring XI beaten at The Grange
A beautiful day at the home of Scottish cricket ends in defeat
Carmel's debut at The Grange was sun drenched but ended in a five-wicket to defeat to the hosts.
Touring XI skipper Barry Mcgauty won the toss and elected to bat first on a ground which had 24 hours earlier staged a ODI between Scotland and UAE.
Carmel lost openers Alec Davies (8) and Mcgauty (8) early on but the visitors middle order fought back to post 181 in 38.4 overs.
Gareth Roberts (32) top scored while Matty Isgar (28), Timothy Abraham (24) and Will Loveland (30) all chipped in.
On a dry pitch, Scotland A leg-spinner Haris Aslam, who appeared at the U19 World Cup earlier this year, finished the pick of the home side's attack with four wickets.
Grange Club, who boasted a number of Scottish youth internationals, made a steady start to their reply before Nick Hughes (1-17) struck.
Davies then bagged a trio of victims to collect 3-26 and when Loveland snaffled a run out the home side were wobbling on 137-5.
However, Carmel's bowling attack were unable to claim any further wickets as Grange Club passed the total with 11 balls to spare.
