Sim stars as Brymbo triumph
Carmel fall short despite battling performance
Daniel Sim struck his third half-century of the season as Carmel's 3rd XI lost by 34 runs to Brymbo.
The home side's bowling attack found it tough going as Brymbo posted 232-4 from their 40 overs having asked the visitors to bat first at Pen-y-Gelli.
Nick Hughes snaffled (2-27) and a run out while Timothy Abraham picked up 1-47.
However, Carmel made a decent fist of the chase after the tea break.
Andrew Abraham, who kept impressively having stood in as wicketkeeper, laid the platform as he shared an opening stand of 40 with brother Timothy.
The latter fell one run short of his half-century as he and Sim took Carmel past the 100-mark.
Sim (54) took the game by the scruff of the neck alongside a watchful Tom Owen, who made a senior best 13.
Hughes has already shown his heroics with the bat this season and when he began peppering the boundary an unlikely victory for the home side seemed possible.
However, when he was caught on 43 the game was up as Carmel were restricted to 198-8.
