Crushing loss to Corwen
Defeat leaves fortunes dependent on other results
Carmel 1st XI's promotion chances took a hit after an eight-wicket loss to Corwen.
The restructuring of the North Wales Cricket League for 2019 means second place in Divison Two will now be promoted.
However, a disappointing performance in their penultimate match of the season left those prospects in the balance.
Skipper Barry Mcgauty lost the toss and asked to bat first Carmel capitulated from 41-0 to 127 all out.
Openers Richard Jones (26) and Dafydd Bailey (26) got the hosts off to a solid start but Jack Whitehouse (16) was the only other top-order batsman to make double figures.
Timothy Abraham provided some lower-order resistance as he top scored with 32 batting at number 10, but nine overs went unbowled.
Ben Sim (1-26) struck early for the hosts after the tea interval - Derek Johnson snaffling a fine catch - but Carmel found chances difficult to come by.
Mcgauty claimed a second wicket to finish with 1-24 but Abraham spilled a routine catch at long on as Carmel missed the chance to secure a further point.
