Carnforth RUFC would like to congratulate North Manchester and Burnley 3rds for winning our respective leagues.
North Manchester have flown through the season undefeated - only the one draw ruining a 100% record. League tables dont lie as this proves they have been the best team and we wish them well in North Lancashire One next season.
The second promotion slot is still open with Birchfield and Eagle both having one game left. Yesterday Birchfield could have clinched their promotion with victory over Pendle but for the second time this season Pendle could not raise a team. The game will probably have to be played with Pendle no doubt receiving a points deduction. By a twist of fate Pendle could have a say in the promotion as they still have 4 games to play which includes Birchfield and Eagle. 3 teams have finished their campaign - Carnforth, Clitheroe and Bury.
Burnley 3rds have romped away with 5 North with only 3 defeats. They have played some excellent rugby on their way to promotion and a move upto 4 North - we wish them well. The 2nd promotion slot should be taken by Clitheroe 2nds who only have to turn up for one of their remaining 2 games to claim a point to secure second place. Carnforth 2nds and Ormskirk 4ths finished their difficult season yesterday - Tyldsley 3rds did play but their 2nd team conceded so their 3rds escaped further punishment by being omitted from the league for a 4th concede. There also still a few games remaining in 5 North.
Both leagues have been very competitive this season - every team being capable of fine victories both at home and on their travels. Many thanks to Brian Stott and Craig Hind - the two league secretaries.
