Carnforth Rugby club held their annual Presentation Dinner on Saturday evening at Pine Lake Resort, Carnforth.
A healthy turn out experienced speeches by 2nd xv Captain John Edmondson, 1st xv skipper Lee Moorhouse and Club chairman Paul Weatherill.
John thanked all the players who had turned out for the 2nds in one of their best seasons in the clubs 30 year history. They were in the top 2 for much of the season but wittled away towards the end to finish 4th – just enough to gain promotion to Division Four North of the superbly run Miller Homes Leagues. John presented his vice captain Peter Sowerby with a gift for his excellent work as deputy.
Lee dwindled on a tough season for the 1st team as they finished bottom of North Lancashire Two. Again he thanked the players who had performed in a difficult season and those that had covered from the 2nd team when required. Lee thanked Matthew Short for taking on the role as club coach.
Paul concentrated on the off field activities – he thanked Eunice Metcalfe for the after match teas and June Barton for the shirt laundry. Kevan Holden was given special praise for his excellent work as Social Secretary. Both captains were congratulated for their continued work over the season.
