The children from Carniny Amateur & Youth FC Football Development Centre had a guest in the form of former Carniny member and Gibson Cup, Irish League champion 2017/18 Rodney Brown at their end of season function at the Adair Arms Hotel on Saturday afternoon. Rodney had been a member of the club from 4 years of age and has always been a regular attender at various Carniny functions. Following a buffet lunch the children were presented with participation certificates and a trophy to mark their participation during the past year.
Club secretary, Billy O’Flaherty thanked main centre sponsors, Robinsons NISA, Cullybackey Road as well as Castle Tower School for hosting the Centre each week. Coach, Robin McClintock congratulated the children for their good behaviour each week and thanked the parents for ensuring they were always on time and correctly attired. Assisting with the presentation were John Scullion and Steven Greer who had coached at the centre all season.
The centre will resume again in September and advertisements for places will be announced in August coming for boys and girls born in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The children born in 2011 who had been at the centre will now progress to a team and will be allocated a weekly training session and will take part in the IFA small sided games programme from September.
