CARNINY YOUTH SECURE NIFL YOUTH LEAGUE SPOT

Carniny Youth were delighted to receive official confirmation of their entry to the NIFL Youth League for the forthcoming season last week.

The club were quietly preparing a squad for the league throughout last season but obviously couldn’t make an announcement until they received official confirmation.

The local club met the required entry criteria set by the Irish FA and passed the final interview last week. The club will enter at Section B and will join will join Ballymena Utd III, who play in Section A, meaning two teams from the town will now competing in the top Youth League.

The club can therefore now offer the opportunity for all local youth players to continue their development in a youth league up the age of 19 in the NIFL Youth League. Local players who are still looking for a youth club born 1996/97/98 are encouraged to contact the club with the aim of playing in the league. The team will be coached by Jimmy Gilchrist. At time of going to press Carniny will share the B division with, Lisburn Distillery III, Ards Youth, Carrick Rangers Colts, Portadown III, St. Oliver Plunket, Ballyclare Comrades Colts, Newry City, Annagh Utd, Knockbreda swifts and Ballymoney United Colts. The club will also get the opportunity to compete in the Harry Cavan Youth Cup.

NIBFA National League

With the final NIBFA National League tables now released, Carniny Youth will be represented at all six age groups from Under 12 right through to Under 17 level. This will provide the players with a wealth of experience playing against some of the top teams around the Province. Anyone interested in playing in fro any of the age groups should use the team contacts listed below.

Foyle Cup

Carniny Youth teams are also looking forward to the 2014 Hughes Insurance Foyle Cup which starts on 21st July for five days. The club’s Under 10s, 12s, 13s and 16s will all be competing at the top class tournament staged up in the North West. The club results can be found on a single page at

European Debut for Former Player

The club would like to congratulate former player, Samuel McIlveen on making his European football debut for Glenavon in the Europa League.
Samuel played the full 90 minutes in the first leg away in Iceland against FH Hafnarfjordur and was an unused sub in the home leg last week. Glenavon faced an uphill battle after a 3-0 defeat in the first leg and lost the second leg 2-3.
