Six teams from Carniny Amateur & Youth FC age groups descended on Michelin Athletic Club for the second of the clubs end of season presentation functi

Secretary, Billy O’Flaherty opened proceedings by naming the seven different leagues the clubs 13 teams participate in both at home and the various locations this year the teams participated in such as Portugal, Scotland, Ireland and England.

He thanked those who supported the clubs fundraising events through the ‘Night at the Races’, the Golf Event and the Sponsored Walks. For the club to continue he mentioned the importance of the support of the sponsorship of the long relationship the club has enjoyed from Hulls Sausages, McDonalds Restaurant (who have agreed an extension to their current sponsorship of the club strips) Frankie & Benny’s, NISA and KARL AIRPORT PARKING.
The secretary mentioned the highlights of the club this season where undoubtedly the Youth International Recognition of players Matthew Shevlin and Shane McKernan, the Club Excellence Mark Accreditation due to the good work of club official Stephen Armstrong and the Xmas fundraising event between Ballymena United and Carniny A& YFC.

Last but not least the secretary mentioned that his highlight was the fact that a boys club such as Carniny were able to compete in the highest standards of youth football and in particular the 13s, 15s and 17s in the top flight of Youth Football. In closing the secretary thanked the following, Players, for their commitment during the season, Coaches for the personal time given, Parents for having their child being on time at events, Management Committee, for the time they give voluntary to the club, Council Staff for use of their facilities as well as private facilities, Officials of the various leagues for their support.

Secretary went on to introduce current Coleraine player and former Carniny Youth player Rodney Brown to present the awards. Rodney played for Carniny from P1 age before joining the professional ranks and was part of the long list of boys who have played for Carniny before progressing to 1st team Irish League football and beyond such as,Josh Carson – York City, Samuel McIlveen – ,Glenavon/Ballyclare, Chris Rodgers – BUFC, Darren McKnight – Barnsley, Matthew Shevlin – BUFC, Jason Johnston – BUFC, Jake Carson – BUFC, Nicky Black – BUFC, Stewart Nixon – BUFC, Leroy Miller – BUFC, Jack Graham – BUFC. Along with many others who have progressed to Championship clubs such as Moyola, Wakehurst, Larne and Ballyclare.

RENEWAL OF SPONSORSHIP

Club officials Billy O’Flaherty and Ian Morton met this week with local McDonalds Restaurant franchisee Kadian O’Reilly to agree a continuation of the restaurants sponsorship of the local clubs playing kits for the next season. The club are eternally grateful to McDonalds.

NEXT IN LINE FOR PRESENTATION

Frankie & Benny’s Restaurant in Ballymena will be the next to host the Carniny club when teams from the Football Development Centre will enjoy an end of season function to celebrate the previous 12 months. The presentation will be on Monday 29th at Frankie & Benny’s. Contact coaches for details.
