It was a great experience for the three squads who took part, all enjoying the week with friendships made and team bonding to the fore.
Chris Shields Under 9 squad were the busiest during the week taking in 10 games. The boys came up against Tristar, Eglinton Eagles, Hillsborough Boys, Oxford Utd, Finn Town harps and QPS in their group before playing East Donegal Schoolboys, East Donegal Colts and Kickstart in the knockout stages. Chris was assisted by fellow coaches Andy McClenaghan and Will McDonald. Player of the tournament for the 9s was awarded to Matthew Ewart, with Jamie Black the top goal scorer and Matthew McDonald the clubman of the week.
Naill Greer’s Under13s played out six games with group matches against Trojans, Coleraine and a South Donegal Select team before moving on to the knockout stages playing Oxford Utd, St Patrick’s and Institute. Player of the tournament for the 13s was named as Isaac Wylie.
Davy Hanna’s Under 14s played five games in total and were handed a tough draw in the group stages pitted against two NIBFA National League sides, Sion Swifts and Cookstown Youth and had the bonus of getting to play in the Brandywell Stadium against Scottish Academy side Hibernian. All at the club would like to take the opportunity to thank all the parents and friends who helped the coaches with transport on a daily basis up to the North West and for their valued support throughout the week.
