The clubs U14 squad enjoyed weekend trip to Sunderland AFC

Carniny Amateur and Youth Under 14s have just returned from their Sunderland trip full of confidence and great memories. The trip was organised through Carniny Amateur and Youth FC's close link with Sunderland AFC Foundation of Light.

On the Saturday morning the boys were treated to a tour of Sunderland AFC’s Stadium of Light and after that the boys played their first match against local team Redhouse Farm who had six teams at U14 age group alone! Carniny ran out convincing winners at 5-2 with four goals from Lee Lynn and a free kick from Scott Hunter.

On the second day Carniny played their second game against Delaval Dynamos. Carniny again produced a great performance winning 6-2 with two goals for both Scott Hunter and Mark Butler, and one goal each from Lee Lynn and Jake White. The defence of Simpson, Robinson, Holland and Young was superb, never panicking and playing the ball from the back with confidence. The midfield of Groocock, Holba, White and Magee always looked dangerous and won their battles when it counted. Hamilton controlled things in midfield in his man of the matched performance. Once again Lynn led the line well and got himself another goal to give him five for the weekend. Hunter and Butler came on at half time both getting themselves a goal brace. Hunter once again showed his free kick capabilities when his effort went in the top corner from 25 yards. Devlin had another great game when he came on providing four assists. Tiernan Conner- Steele showed what he can do, winning tackles and linking well with the forwards. Magee was unlucky with his long range effort that hit the bar. Throughout the game McNicholl in goals showed great goalkeeping with save hands and excellent distribution to the fullbacks.

Carniny would like to thank Pinpoint Youth League for arranging the friendlies and Sunderland Foundation of Light for arranging the match day experience. A fantastic weekend enjoyed by players, staff and parents alike.
