Carniny U10 team have been invited by Rangers Academy to visit the famous club to play a match against their Scottish counterparts.

This has now become an annual event, as the squad are following on from last year's team and the boys are excited by the proposition of a match at the Murray Park training ground. All transport is provided from Ballymena and it's just a short ferry trip and road journey until the reach the 1st team training facility. The team will get a full tour of the complex and after a lunch they get to test their skills against some of Scotland's top youth players. The lads have performed well in their matches played locally in the North West Youth Coleraine League and will be expecting a tough test against the Rangers Academy team. The majority of the squad has grown up together from their time in the Carniny FDC and now have two years experience playing in Coleraine. With two teams entered in the league - Youths and Amateurs the playing time encourages the boys to experiment and develop their skills within a non-competitive environment. The rapid progression of some of the players has raised expectations for next year when they move into a competitive league. The Rangers games will be seven-aside and there will be at least 80 mins game time. With the squad that Carniny currently possess at this age group, there are two teams planned to play two matches. The squad are currently raising money towards their trip and planning a sponsored walk on the 11th April for the trip the week after on the 18th April.

This will hopefully not be the last trip for the team, with the intention being to utilise Carniny's extensive connections to visit a professional club for friendlies and coaching on an annual basis.
