WEEKEND ROUND UP SAT 28TH JAN image

The Under 14s produced the club's peformance of the weekend when they came back from two goals down to win 6-2 aganst Trojans in the National League.

What started as a pretty dour encounter between the under 14’s and Trojans from Londonderry exploded into life after the reds had went two down and Owen Marquess in Carniny’s goal saved a penalty and under 13 player Conor Doherty was introduced. In a thrilling second period Carniny came back to win 6-2 courtesy of a Shevlin hat trick, a brace from Doherty and a headed goal from Hart although the whole team can be proud of their performance.

Conal McHenry proved to be the hero for the under 12s netting a last minute equaliser to earn his side a 1-1 draw in their National League tie against Magherafelt Sky Blues.

The young under 10s also had a fun day’s football with both Carniny sides defeating Coleraine at Ballymena Showgrounds in a mini soccer tourney with their friends from the Bann.

As the 11s and 13s games were postponed due to frost the 15s went out of the NL Cup 4-3 away to Ballinamallard.

Only one of the clubs senior sides was in action with the 'Seconds' having a comforatble 5-1 win against 14th Newtownabbey.

SPECIAL VISIT

Carniny Amateur & Youth FC under 14s welcomed a very special visitor into their changing room on Saturday morning prior to their National League tie with Trojans in the form of recently appointed Ballymena United manager, Glen Ferguson. Glen didn’t hesitate in accepting the offer and passed on good advice to the boys which must have worked as they won 6-2.

BIG NIGHT FOR CARNINY STAFF

Club Chairman, Anthony McCartney and coach Cliffy Adams both were involved in Ballymena Borough Councils Sports Awards last week. Unfortunately both came runners up but both should be proud of the fact they were nominated for such prestigious awards.
