Carniny started 2018 at home to Carnmoney in the cup
Carniny started the 2018 season at home to Carnmoney in the cup missing several players due to illness and started brightly and had several chances with Weir, Young and Kennedy all going close but it was Carnmoney who opened the scoring in the 17th minute when they caught the Carniny defence sleeping. Carniny searched for an equaliser but squandered several chances.
Half time 0-1 to Carnmoney.
The second half saw Carniny introduce their leading goal scorer Blair to the action and he almost scored with his first touch. Carnmoney were awarded a dubious penalty but Nathanael Hanna in goals proved once again why he is one of the best keepers in the league by saving it. Carniny were pushing hard for the equaliser and this didn’t happen until the 60th minute when Murray put Blair through and he made no mistake. The game was dragging towards extra time but Clarke linked with Blair and he made no mistake to increase the score to 2-1 Carniny. Carnmoney went looking for an equaliser but the Carniny defence of Hanna, Condron, Dael, Duddy and Hanna managed to keep them at bay and in the last few seconds Kennedy made the score 3-1.
