A double brace from young Joe Blair helped the U14s to their fourth win in 8 days in the SBYL league run in
Carniny were at home on Saturday against Harland Youth and nothing but a win would suffice. The first five minutes was a scrappy affair but once the wee reds settled it was a continuation of Wednesday night's game as Carniny started were they left off and it was that man Joe Blair who opened the scoring after 8 minutes. Harland were very dangerous but the defence of Hanna Dael Duddy Devine and Clarke were strong with Kain Devine marshalling his defence. It was a tight affair in midfield but Carniny’s Weir Young Kennedy and McCaughey battled for every ball and it was Kennedy who nearly made it two on 16 minutes but the ball hit the bar, once again it was Joe Blair whose pace was causing Harland Youth all types of problems and he made it two nil on 21 minutes this score remained the same till half-time.
The second half saw Carniny push for a third but it was Harland Youth who scored in the 41st minute. This gave the wee reds the wake up call and they stepped up a gear and when Harley Farenden swung in an excellent corner one of many today his ball broke to Kennedy and he found Dael who broke down the wing and out in a great cross for Blair to make it three for himself and Carniny. It could have been more and Farenden Hanna and Blair all went close but it was Joe Blair who made it 4-1 with 8 minutes left when Murray put him through and he made no mistake taking his tally for the season to 39 goals.
