The first team beat a spirited Highgrove side 2-0 in the final of the North Lancs Senior Cup at a windy Giant Axe to make it a cup double for Paul Airey and his yellow men.

Highgrove started the brighter with the wind at their backs and had the better of the game for the first ten minutes although they never really threatened the Cartmel goal.

After this spell though Cartmel dominated the rest of the half, Burrows scoring a good score after 20 minutes to make it 1-0. Several good chances then went begging, and a stone wall penalty not being given after some great work down the left hand side meant the score was 1-0 at half time even though it could have been 3 or 4.

The second half started slowly for Cartmel with Highgrove again having most of the ball but without real threat for the first 15 mins. After that it was all Cartmel who won the battle in the middle of midfield and dominated the half, with Sammy Taylor scoring the second goal with 15 minutes to go to seal the win for the yellows.

In the 90th minute Highgove did create half a chance which Kendall got a finger tip to, diverting onto the post and then behind the goal into the blow up sheep and flares which were coming from the enthusiastic Highgrove fans.

The ref then blew the whistle and Cartmel were the double cup winners for the 2014/15 season!

Man of the match went to Sammy Taylor who was excellent in the middle of The Park although his two partners in there Karl Davidson and Adam Harding must have pushed him close for the award on the night.
