We took a very young Team to face a strong Penycae outfit, who are looking to secure the Runners-Up spot. Their line up included First Team members Mike Platt,Ian Andrews, JP Wood and Nathan Evans, so we were expecting a tough night, with an obvious difference in the stature of the Teams.

However we started very competitively, passing the ball around really well on the superb surface. Cian had a couple of early strikes saved, one when he may have squared the ball to Nathan who was in front of goal.
Nathan had our best chance when he found himself clear, but delayed too long and the shot was blocked.

Our emergency back 4 were defending really well, with Elliot dropping off as a sweeper to pick up through balls. Tom Smith got free on the left but his stinging effort was superbly turned wide by Pete Olsson, who was dealing with everything thrown at him.

Penycae were getting very frustrated with events, Steve Brookes being the first into the Ref's book for a rash challenge. So we reached half time at 0-0, a tremendous effort as we were kicking up the hill in the first half.

We expected an onslaught early second half, but coped well in the first 15 minutes. Then an Olsson goal kick was headed back over our central defenders, who were caught square for the first time, and Tom Smith volleyed into the corner to break the deadlock. A second soon followed with a brilliant overhead kick from Smith after a header had come back off the bar.

We re-grouped and regained our concentration, creating chances for Neil, Cian and Josh, but we could not find a way past Platt. Then 10 minutes from time our hopes were buried after a suoper cross by the impressive
Nathan Evans was headed home from close range.

A very brave performance from the lads, our passing was excellent and we competed well physically. Just a lapse in concentration cost us.But we will have learned a lot tonight.

The Ref Martin Williams certainly made his mark on the game, booking 6 Penycae players and 1 of ours, most of which were completely unnecessary.

Thanks to everyone for tonight, a great season in a very tough League.
It looks like we will finish in 9th spot on 40 points.

I will submit a Season Review shortly.

Pick of the bunch tonight were Pete in Goal, Elliot and Dean, whilst everyone worked really hard.

Man of the Match Pete Olsson for a very commanding performance.
