Gallant effort not enough for Ressies
Late wondergoal breaks deadlock.
The Reserves travelled up to Holywell last night for a 7.30pm kick off, strengthened by the inclusion of Lee Atkins, Phil Davies and Josh
Coleclough. But with Holywell's Cymru Alliance season practically finished, they fielded a very strong line up so it was always going to be
a tough game.
We started well on a bitterly cold night, Josh Coleclough was a major threat, however the home keeper was very solid, and the same with
our own keeperr Josh Owen Jones, who made four early saves to stifle the home attack. Caddie had an effort cleared off the line, and it
was honours even at the break. HT 0-0
On 49 minutes, Man of the Match Tom Adams ventured into the home penalty area and was unceremoniously upended. However the
Referee who was very familiar with the home players and did us no favours all game, refused to award the penalty the visitors deserved.
We then had a header cleared off the line, as we looked to take charge of the game.
But idsaster struck on 80 minutes, when Holywell winger Jack Pennington struck a fantastic shot into the top corner which no keeper would have saved, to give the home side the lead. Five minutes later it was game over as they added a second goal. FT 2-0
But it was a fantastic effort from the lads who can be very proud of their performance. Sam Ellis and Dave Spencer in Centre mid worked
their socks off, but for another faultless display, right back Tom Adams gets the Man of the Match award.
The reserves next game is Hawarden away on Saturday.
