panthers tackle there way to victory
the panthers recorded a hard earned win against a very phyiscal stanley rangers team.
with many of the players from the panthers playing there 3rd game in 6 days and with rhys bonser absent it was going to take a gutsy effort.the panthers started the brighter and some strong defence from stanley kept the panthers at bay early while the panthers defence kept the stanley side pinned in there own half.ryan smith,adam brough and josh farr drove the ball well while morgan nash was denied a try with a superb covering tackle from the stanley full back.mid way through the first half jake sweeting crossed from close range only for the official who struggled to keep pace adjudging a knock to the dismay of all the players.
lewis edwards was busy throughout while louis wilson dictated well from scrum half,jake smith was tackled just short after picking up a loose ball before sweeting fed jack appleyard who crossed only for the referee to call another knock that nobody else saw.the panthers did well to keep there cool with many decisions going against them has half time came. 0-0 ht.
the second half continued has the first ended with the panthers players getting a rough time from some dubious looking tackles and it was full back morgan nash who came off worse after another high shot left him crumpled in pain has he landed. from the resulting penalty josh farr drove to the posts and while charlie sykes and kieran martin went close it was half back sweeting who crossed in the left hand corner ensuring there wasnt a chance for it to be chalked off.the panthers defended well has stanley had some sustained pressure but they held firm,danny thompson ran strong and made a big impact while dec brumby made some useful yards.the panthers had 1 more raid into stanleys half and it was ryan smith who scored the decicive try showing some good strength to cross with sweeting converting.the stanley tried hard to get back in the game but try has might the panthers line wasnt to be broken has a long hard week was brought to an end.
ben green and matt sykes again excelled in defence has did josh farr who`s defence just gets better while sweeting had fine all round game george steel and dec ellis did well in the time they were on the field.
the club would also like to wish morgan nash a speedy recovery after sustaining a broken collar bone.
