A Busy Weekend

2 weeks ago By Jase Grant MBE

Awards, Festivals, Games ........ all in weekends work for Crusaders.

“Being a diverse club with lots of activity, rather than a stand alone outfit, our Touch team provides a great avenue for coaches, parents and volunteers alike to get in some Rugby League time of their own.” Jason Grant - Chairman and Touch Player

After a few weeks of relative quiet, Crusaders return to a busy weekend schedule this weekend.
First up, this evening, are the North East Rugby League Awards which are being hosted by Newcastle Thunder at Kingston Park. Crusaders are leading the way, in the Region, with 12 nominations over the various categories. Hopefully a couple of them will be rewarded on the night, however, all are pleased to have made through the hardest part, being shortlisted. The Crusaders "shortlisters" are;
Jayne Whitby - Volunteer of the Year
Jason Grant - Spirit of the Community and Open Age Coach of the Year.
Ian McKechnie - Primary Rugby League Volunteer
Elijah Delaidriti - U12's Player of the Year
Osea Navuso - U12's Player of the Year
Jeremy Civil - U14's Player of the Year
Rupert Civil - U16's Player of the Year
Ollie Bale - U16's Player of the Year
Steve O'Reilly - Junior Coach of the Year
Dan Bonham - Men's Player of the Year
Callum Piert - Young Player of the Year

Straight after the awards, Jayne Whitby and Jason Grant will be heading straight for Blackpool, as will a few others who are either leaving earlier today or very early on Saturday to take part in Round 3 of the Coast to Coast Touch Rugby League Tournament, which is making up part of the RFL's Grand Day Out. The Grand Day Out see's Touch, Masters and the Wheelchair variants of Rugby League all converging on Stanley Park Blackpool.
The Touch team is strong for numbers and as per usual will be looking to enjoy the occasion and fill it full of lively banter. Being a diverse club with lots of activity, rather than a stand alone outfit, our Touch team provides a great avenue for coaches, parents and volunteers alike to get in some Rugby League time of their own.

Whilst the Touch team is in Blackpool, games and training will still be continuing at Robertson Rd, where the U12's will be taking on Cramlington Rockets and the Cubs, U8's, U10's and U14's will be put through their paces by their coaches.

Busy, busy, busy ..... just how we like it.
