Krish Thapa announced as the first winner of the award

At the Caversham AFC Presentation Day on Saturday we presented a very special award for the first time.

As U11 coaches, we've been trying to instill a core set of values since the boys were 6 years old - and now they are 11 it's great to see them demonstrating these more and more. These values include:

• Showing respect and fair play
• Giving your all for your team, never giving up
• Having pride in your shirt
• Enjoying your football - and playing with a smile on your face

...all traits of a genuine Clubman.

Our friend and team-mate Arhant Khan, who sadly left us this year, would have been an extremely worthy recipient of this award, demonstrating these traits in spades. Football was his passion - he loved this club - and we will miss him.

In Arhant's honour we have decided to inaugurate The Arhant Khan Clubman Award - and award it to a player in this year group for consistent demonstration of these traits and attributes. The shield has 7 individual medals and we will present it every year with the clubman's name inscribed.

The final award will be in 2022 when the boys are U17s - their final year of youth football, when these boys will become men (and we will be much older. I don't fancy our chances in the lads v coaches match then!)

We firmly believe that this award will become the most prestigious and important trophy we will present every year.

This year the inaugural winner of the award is someone who also displays all of these attributes on a regular basis - and has been a great example this season, showing outstanding character.

We are delighted to present this year's 'Arhant Khan Clubman Award' to Krish Thapa. Well done Krish!

We were very pleased that Arhant's parents, Gita and Kumar (pictured) were able to attend on Saturday to see the award being presented. They are pictured here with Krish, his dad Raja and the shield.
