The title came down to the last game of the season, with the Rebels needing a win or draw, or for 2nd place Burgfield to drop points. Unfortunately the final game didn’t go our way, and after a nervy, highly pressured 60mins, the Rebels couldn’t convert their many chances, and lost the game to a gutsy Holyport side. Attention began to turn to the 2nd v 3rd place game, and in the dying minutes of a very tight game, pressure began to tell on Burghfield and they conceded an equalizer – lady luck was dressed in Caversham red that day! The Burghfield game finished in a draw, and with a few minutes still to play in the Rebels game, the boys started to realise the title was theirs

Despite the final day not going to plan, the season had been so full of dramatic twists and turns, so maybe it was fitting that the final day be no different! The boys showed great qualities all through the season, and their never give up attitude, teamwork, commitment, attacking mind set and doggedness ultimately made them deserving winners.

As well as league champions, the boys now have one final game to play – a Cup Final with Burghfield on 14th May @ Tadley – does the double loom ?
