Brilliant Win Against Bridgend
Premiership Performance on a Premiership Ground
RGC's first away win at Bridgend Athletic and what a win it was. A Premiership performance on a Premiership pitch with the Athletic seemingly using the premiership Bridgend ground at Brewery Ford for their home games. 6 tries for RGC that well and truly scuppered my prediction of a close win for RGC. At least I got the win right. The game was a fairly open running game so I heard from one Bridgend supporters source in a game where both teams played some good rugby. According to the many tweets by Marc, in the first half Bridgend defended heroically against RGC's threat and only succumbed to a try at the end of the half following a catch and drive from a line out on the 5 metre mark. Huw Worthington
(we think) got the honours with Danny Cross
slotting the conversion to add to James Lang
's early penalty.
The second half got under way to a cracking start by RGC with Danny Cross
(ing) the line after an acrobatic assist by Hoppo from the wing.
The score rate from then on seemed to show RGC in ever increasing ascendancy scoring a try every 10 minutes to the end. There was a defensive error that provided the Ath. with an easy try around the 20 min. mark of the 2nd half but otherwise it was all RGC with tries from Tom Hughes (Dolgellau), Tom Seddon
, James Lang
and Joe Simpson
with Danny Cross
adding a couple of conversions.
It would seem a very assured and accomplished victory to maintain the gap between our selves and Bargoed.
