Last Saturday’s cup tussle saw Gaerwen Reserves FC make the better start before Cemaes Bay took the lead against the run of play on 29 minutes. Huw Torr teeing up Ryan Folksman to shoot home.

At half time the game was very much in the balance, but Cemaes Bay came out a different team for the second period. On 59 minutes substitute Sion Wynn Griffiths set up Steve Mason to end his recent goal drought. Sion Wynn Griffiths again provided the assist for Steven Mason to make it 3-0 in the 62 minute.

On came Tam Morton who immediately showed his ability with a very calm and composed finish. Cemaes Bay continued to pressurise with wave-after-wave of attach, and added their fifth when class young talent Huw Torr headed home from a Shaun Pritchard cross. Steve Mason then completed his hat-trick with a very good top-corner strike.

After the match the Cemaes Bay management team paid tribute to Gaerwen Reserves, stating that the score-line didn’t reflect the effort made by the visiting side. The management team said:

“Despite having lost four players who were called up for first team duty on the morning of the match, for large parts of the game Gaerwen Reserves really did give Cemaes Bay a scare”.
