Chalgrove kicked off with determination to put Saturdays loss to Bicester behind them and start their home campaign with 3 points.
Chalgrove were relatively unchanged going in to the game with Sam Rolfe coming in at LWB and Joe Stobbs replacing injured goalkeeper Jamie Davies. The Cavaliers started brightly and were comfortable in possession for the first 25 minutes, where they were playing the ball out from the back nicely just as they practiced in pre-season. Rolfe was denied the woodwork from about 12-yards early in to the first half.
Horspath recognised Chalgroves style of play and set up nicely to prevent The Cavaliers from moving forwards easily. Horspath grew with confidence towards the later stages of the first half and the game was evenly matched by the half way mark.
Horspath made changes that made an impact to the way they were playing and seemingly put Chalgrove on back foot. The away side had several chances to take the lead in the second half but failed to capitalise on any of them.
The game looked settled to be a goalless draw which would have been a fair result until Curtis Lockyer stepped up and smashed the Ball into the top right hand corner from 25-yards. Already a strong contender for goal of the season.
The boys were absolutely buzzing after the game to get their first 3-points of the season on the board. The confidence is oozing going into the next game.
