Challow 2s Quieten Noisy Neighbours
A derby with extra spice this year, as a couple of Challow players had defected to Didcot over the winter. However, a fightback saw the home team win!
Challow bowled tidily to begin with, but the Didcot pair of Demain and Pritchard looked very determined and cruised past the 50 mark. Not much was going Challow's way until Conor Jones decided that the singles were starting to annoy and ran out Pritch with a direct hit. Still Didcot cruised and at 130-odd for 1 it was a bit of a gamble to turn to the fizzing skills of Robbie Harries. However, he quickly struck, luring Demain down the wicket and Pat completed the stumping. With man-of-the-match Joe Harries now twirling at the other end, the pressure built on Didcot and wickets now gradually became more regular. Sensing the shift, Challow upped their game. Dan Alderson returned to the attack to remove another ex-challow man, Haq, and Joey was steadily inducing wild misses from the other end. Didcot were still inching forward though and got to within 20 of the target with a couple of wickets still left.
However, the last word was had by ex-Didcot paceman Dan who skittled 10 and 11 to see his side home. There was much joy!
