Well it was a hard game on Monday but I thought that you all worked incredibly hard against a tough opposition. To come away with a point against Trinity playing with new players and others' playing out of position was a fantastic result. Well done to Alexis who was nominated player of the match - an excellent game played in the D. I would like to also mention how impressive Ceri's first game for the A team was and again how well Sarah played in defence. It's great to see some up and coming young talent playing in the A team.
Watching the first half it was clear to see that we were slow to get going. However this was partly due to the new formation of the team. As we got into gear we made some fantastic passes down the court as well as some excellent interceptions. Defence as always were brilliant. Jo I played a fantastic half at centre, keeping up with the game and providing great support in the centre court. Once Ceri got her first goal in her confidence blossomed and there was no stopping her. Some excellent linking play in the D between Alexis and Ceri saw us pull some goals back.
A shift around at half time saw Sarah come on as WD and Tracey switch from GK to C with Jo I. This was an excellent decision as you started off strongly by scoring the first 3 goals. Some moments of excellence again passing the ball down the court in the third quarter. In the forth we started to tire which caused us to throw away some easy balls and not attack as hard as we would normally. Fitness is always a key element of the game that we all need to work on!!
We also need to work on chasing down every lose ball. This was something that Trinity did well and enabled them to turn over balls that should of been ours, (remember the ball is still in play until it has bounced out of court!!!) As well as this we need to think about passing into the space to force the player to move onto the pass. Our oppositions seem to be getting taller and quicker so we need to push our passes further to prevent the interceptions.
