Chard go down fighting in tough loss to North Perrott

A young Chard team came up against a very strong North Perrott B team, whose future is certainly bright indeed, and were in truth given a lesson in power hitting, tight bowling and wonderful fielding.

With only 6 players, Chard were allowed to bat first with a slightly different format of each pair facing 5 overs. Luke started off well with a fine square drive for 4 from the first ball (while also taking a sharp caught and bowled in the second innings, first ball), and if the game had been a 1 ball bowl out, we would have done well.

Unfortunately, things then went downhill slightly, though nothing other than fine North Perrot bowling, with regualr wickets falling due to shot selection that needs work, and terrible running between the wickets. Great bowling from all the North Perrott bowlers, saw the team finish on a slightly below par 189.

The second innings started with Luke taking a fine caught and bowled chance off of the first ball, but some fine power hitting all the way through the innings saw Perrott finish on 333, with Chard losing by 144 runs.

A fine effort for the most part lads, but we need to not allow our heads to drop when things aren't going our way, and remember that we are a team..... shouting at each other will not help us win games.
