HOCKEY REPORT
Gillingham Sunday Ladies 2 Chard Sunday Ladies 3
Fielding it's usual mix of youth and experience, the Sundays were really happy to win this final game of their league season. As the score suggests it was a very even match and the first goal for Chard was scrambled in after a shot from Aimee Dellow and assistance from Georgia Caird. The home team were soon attacking in force, so Emma Wyatt, Zoe roche and Cassie Newland were required to show their best defensive play in order to keep them at bay. After constant pressure Gill broke through and the score was even. With experienced midfielders Pippa Wyatt, Jodie Wright and Claire Baker providing the nessesary thrust, Chard went ahead from a classic Ros Clemmans- Lois Butcher move which Butcher crisply scored. Goalie Charlie Carver-Bale was subjected to an onslaught of attacks, during which she saved many attempts but Gill were determined and they scored to again to make the game 2-2. With only minutes to go it was Chard that showed their true grit and after many attacks by Clemmans and the Butcher girls Lois and Ruth, it was Ruth who deservedly got the winner for the Sunday team. Thanks Everyone.
