Chard B 3 Ashmoor B 1
Chard sitting in first place entertained the second placed side from Ashburton. Both teams fielded a number of youth players which made for an interesting game. Chard started brightly with a lot of activity in mid-field and down the wings but could not create that killer pass. Chard eventually undid the defence when good work by Max
Beale and Kyle Wheaton
drew the defence and a killer pass found Duncan
Lewis to slot home the goal. Ashmoor came into the game as the half went on, George
Grossey dealing well with many of the forward advances.
The second half was a lot more scrappy as Ashmoor defended deep and relied on long hits to their forwards, Chard doubled their score went a shot was saved but Jacob Whitefield was on hand to tap the ball in, soon after Lewis and Whitefield linked well for the flying winger to pick up his second goal. Ashmoor eventually had their efforts rewarded when their best player manoeuvred his way around the Chard defence, Ashmoor had then a penalty corner which Grahame
Johnson did well to stop. AS one of the Chard players was sin-binned both sides became very defensive and no good chances were created by either team. The win means the undefeated Chard team are close to securing the league. Match Sponsors Phoenix Fitness. Thanks to umpires Gary Wheaton
