New player-coach explains why moving to the Scholars felt like an easy decision.

Robbie Banks admits he has hardly had time to breath before being appointed as an additional coach to Dave Stringer's backroom staff for next season.

The former Rugby Town captain accepted the decision shortly after resigning from his managerial post at Coventry Sphinx and believes the opportunity was too good to turn down.

"It all happened very quickly, I had to step down as manager at Coventry Sphinx as I couldn't put in the hours I knew I needed to.

"Then I had the call from Dave, he talked to me about the club, it's aspirations and the people involved in it. I didn't see the need to think about it for too long as it was the perfect fit."

Banks will also be registered as a player for the club, but he reveals his main attraction is coaching, as he understands football careers have to end at sometime.

"Football careers don't go on forever, but I still have aspirations to play.

"However I was attracted to the coaching role and I am looking to develop that side now.

"I'm also well aware of how big of a club Chasetown is and playing a part in the clubs profession up the leagues where it should be was too good of an opportunity to turn down."

The midfielder also believes he is more than ready for the challenge of the Northern League.

He said "I am really looking forward to the challenge, the Northern League is a tough league, but with the players and staff onboard I'm sure we can be successful."

And Banks also hailed boss Dave Stringer admitting working with him again was one of the key factors in joining.

He said "It will be good to be working with Dave again. He's a top guy on and off the field and we have very similar views on the way the game should be played.

Banks continued "He really knows his football and playing under him as captain for years I know exactly what I will be joining.

"It will also be good to work alongside Cameron Stuart, we played together at Coalville and again a top guy in and out of football and really knows his stuff.

"I'm Looking forward to the season ahead."
