Scott said, "Will is a player that I have been after for a couple of sessions so to have finally got him is great news. Will has been at the Port Vale academy until he was 18 and then moved onto Market Drayton.

"Will spent the past 3 seaasons at Drayton scoring over 35 goals in the process and had his best return last session with 15 goals (12 league and 3 cup) which is one of the highest in our league from a midfielder.

"Will has great technical ability can see a pass knows where the net is and works hard for the team."

For those Scholars fans who can remember it, Whieldon made an 11 minute substitute appearance in a 5-2 defeat for Chasetown at Gresley in October 2013.
