"Having been in football since I was 10, I had been tempted to take a break this year and had said to my wife I was going to take some time off.

"When the job at Chasetown came up with its facilities, fan base and massive potential it was too big an opportunity to turn down.

"It was the only job I applied for."

Dave brings in a number two, Tony Clark who has been an assistant and coach at Rugby.

A busy first day for Dave saw him ringing as many of the first team squad as he could.

"Continuity is important so I hope to keep on last season's squad as well as bring in players of my own.

"We are probably a bit behind on pre season but I will meet the players tomorrow and see how things are.

"I have a family club ethos and a style of play that the supporters will enjoy watching.

"I would like to thank Mick Joiner and particularly Charlie Blakemore who rang the players after Marcus Law left to try and keep the squad together."
