A minute later, Baker almost added a second goal dragging a shot wide of Smith but inches wide of the far upright.
Jordon Crawford forced Pond to make a save at the start of the second half as the hosts tried to assert some authority on the game before Ashley Robinson forced another save from a long range free kick.
Chasetown had some chances too, but couldn't get the vital goal to put themselves two goals clear.
