Defeated but did more than enough to take at least a point
Chasetown hit the woodwork twice, had an effort cleared off the line and had a strong penalty turned down on Tuesday night in Runcorn.

The hosts made a positive start and rattled the crossbar early on.
Runcorn took the lead after 10 minutes. Kurt Sherlock fired home from close range after Chasetown failed to clear a free kick.
The Scholars levelled in the 16th minute. Danny Cocks laid the ball back to Mike O’Reilly whose first time cross was headed home by Jack Langston.
Curtis Pond made a smart stop to deny Sherlock before Langston was next to rattle the crossbar with an effort from the edge of the box.
Chasetown made a positive start to the second half and had a header cleared off the line within the first five minutes of the second half.
Runcorn took the lead against the run of play. A cross from the right was whipped across and Kris Holt steered the ball home.
George Cater had a strong appeal for a penalty after he was tugged to the ground by Aaron Morris.
In the final minute, Joe Thomas’ corner kick was headed off the inside of the post by Jon Beaumont.
