A goal in each half saw the three-match unbeaten run come to an end.
High-flying Trafford got the perfect start with an early goal. Just 10 minutes were on the clock when a ball came in from the right and Jack Dorney slid the ball home inside Curtis Pond's right-hand post.
Chasetown had two near misses as super crosses were pinged across the goalmouth but neither resulted in a shot at goal.
Jake Lovatt saw one effort deflected wide for a corner and then forced a low diving save from Matthew Cooper just before the half-time break.
Chasetown needed a good start to the second half but were dealt a sucker punch just four minutes in. An attack broke down and the pacy visitors opened up the home defence and Aaron Burns doubled Trafford's lead.
Cooper wasn't troubled as the second half petered out and Chasetown will have to switch their attention to Saturday's FA Trophy tie at Newcastle Town.
