Tired Cheadle U-12s lose battle with Rochdale
It's tough playing 2 consecutive matches, as both Cheadle and Rochdale discovered!
Our second match of the day was against Rochdale. Our team had given everything against WACS. With only one sub to bring on - take a bow, Matthew; small, speedy, but still an apprentice, and only coming on for short periods at this point - our players got hardly any rest in either game, and they were tired.
Rochdale hit us with early goals and were 10-0 up before we came good at the end, scoring 2 - one each for Joe and Aaron, each of whom provided the assist for the other's goal. Erik really came to the fore in this match - you can see that rugby player's determination in his whole approach, chasing attackers, blocking, checking - we have another really good recruit in Erik!
The third match was Rochdale v. WACS and we loaned WACS 4 strong players - Will, Luke J in goal, Alex and Brandon. After the first 2 matches the result of this one was a surprise - WACS beating Rochdale 4-2. WACS did have a rest between their matches, and Rochdale may have been feeling the effects of two consecutive games, as we did. Of course, the fact that WACS had 4 of our stars could well have been a factor! Well done to them all for volunteering to help out WACS despite being so tired. They really fought hard, too. Brandon, who had been a bundle of energy again, came within a whisker of getting his first goal. I'll be betting on him getting it next week, or very soon after!
