The Staffordshire club, due to their incredible cup success this season, face a backlog of fixtures as they chase league leaders, Wigan Robin Park. They currently trail the Robins – who clinched promotion with a 1-0 victory over Eccleshall last night - by fourteen points but have the benefit of no fewer than six games in hand.
Norton, however, already have the NWCFL First Division Trophy in their cabinet and, on Monday night, they came agonisingly close to adding the Staffordshire FA Vase, losing 3-2 to Redgate Clayton in the final played at Stafford Rangers.
And this Saturday they, astonishingly, play their 27th cup tie of the season when they take on Maine Road in the NWCFL Challenge Cup semi-final, second-leg.
Town come into the match in good form, though, suffering just one defeat in their last four, and an exciting game is in prospect; kick-off time at Park Road is 7.45pm.
