What have Alfredo di Stefano, Ronnie Biggs, Rajiv Gandhi and Jairzinho got in common? They have all met Manchester AFC, the touring name of Cheadle Town, on their remarkable journeys around the world.
The club has played a total of 96 games, including
SEVEN national teams, in 30 different countries.
They remain the only British side to have played in Cuba, and one game, in Mexico City's world-famous Aztec Stadium, was watched by 65,000 fans.
They have visited Europe, USA, the Caribbean, Africa, South America and the Far East, an epic journey that has seen them travel more than 210,000 miles.
To celebrate their 50th anniversary this year, Town have produced a special DVD containing previously unseen footage that brings to life the remarkable adventures of the world's most-travelled non-League football club.
The Cheadle Town Story, which also chronicles their domestic history, including a couple of games against Stockport County from the early 90s, runs for an hour and twenty minutes, and is a 'must-see' for football fans everywhere.
Priced at
£19.95, which includes postage and packaging, it is now on sale at Park Road Stadium and also in the Club Shop at Stockport County's Edgeley Park.
Alternatively, if you prefer the DVD to be posted to you just mail your interest to
stuart@cheadletown.co.uk and a Cheadle official will respond directly.
Granada TV recently broadcast a special report on Cheadle Town's extraordinary exploits and, courtesy of our local TV station, you can now watch that feature by clicking
