Service Ladies stormed to a 91-5 win at home to Dudley Kingswinford as they made their league comeback following the Christmas break. Skipper Nat Clegg led the way with a hat trick, only to be upstaged by Lisa who scored four and added eight convertions for good measure! Stella and Ang with doubles and tries from Jen M, Eleanor, Nicola and Spacks completed the scoring.
The 1stXV continued their fine recent form, with a 25-6 win at home to Aretians. Chris Furze, Gareth Jenkins and Ollie Wilton all scored tries as Service made it five wins in a row, playing good rugby throughout the match. Service's defence was as good as its attack, preventing Aretians scoring a try despite the visitors having a ten minute spell camped out on the Service line.
Two tries in the last ten minutes gave Longlevens a narrow victory over Service seconds in a keenly contested game. Service had taken an early lead through a converted try from James Bennett, but Longlevens came back with two tries of their own either side of half time. Three penalties from James Bennett, the last coming off the post, put Service four points ahead. Despite excellent Service tackling, the effort told and the visitors were able to score two tries to win by 6 points. Jim Davis was the pick of the forwards with fearless tackling all game.
Unfortunately the thirds lost a mismatched game 44-5 at a Tewkesbury 4ths boosted by players from higher teams. Dave Thomas continued his recent good form by scoring Service's only try of the game.
Next Week, the Firsts and Seconds are away to Bristol Aeroplanes and Dursley respectively whilst the Thirds are home to Cheltenham Saracens. The Ladies are next due to be in action on Sunday 5 February away at Shrewsbury.
